Recurring Recertification

The Healthcare Services Act (HCSA) requires paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) to undergo recertification every two years to maintain their professional competency:

Paramedics: Paramedics must complete the Joint ITE-UPEC Certificate in Pre-hospital Emergency Care course.
-
EMTs: EMTs must complete the EMT Recertification Programme.
Joint ITE-UPEC Certificate In Pre-hospital Emergency Care course

The Joint ITE-UPEC Certificate in Pre-hospital Emergency Care Course certifies local and foreign paramedics, who are strongly encouraged to complete their recertification at least 6 months before their current certification expires.
Course Information
The course starts with a five-week self-directed learning phase, where participants will complete online quizzes and participate in discussions. This is followed by a 3-day face-to-face (F2F) session at ITE College East. The third day of the F2F session will include both theory and practical assessments. To successfully complete the course, participants must attend the required F2F sessions and pass both assessments. Additionally, a course briefing will be held, during which textbooks will be provided to participants for the course duration.
Course Application
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria to be eligible for the course:

Possess a Paramedic Level III certificate (SAF/ SCDF)

Hold a Higher Nitec in Paramedic & Emergency Care
-
Have a Diploma in Paramedicine (NYP)

Provide a letter from UPEC

EMT Recertification Programme

EMTs are strongly encouraged to complete their recertification 3 to 6 months before their current certification expires.
The recertification course will last for 1.5 days, with the schedule as follows:

1st Day: 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM

2nd Day: 8:30 AM - 1:00 PM
