Overview
Policy & Professional Standards

The Policy and Professional Standards team collaborates closely with the Ministry of Health (MOH) to develop and implement service standards for Emergency Ambulance Service (EAS) and Medical Transport Service (MTS), ensuring compliance with the Healthcare Services Act (HCSA). These standards require that EAS and MTS crews are properly trained, hold valid certifications, and operate under the oversight of a Clinical Governance Officer (CGO) who manages the clinical governance framework. Additionally, the team ensures that EAS and MTS vehicles are properly equipped and maintained.
The team's initiatives include coordinating with training providers to offer courses and workshops that enhance the skills of pre-hospital emergency care (PEC) professionals. They also oversee the credentialing framework to ensure foreign-trained paramedics and EMTs meet Singapore's standards, allowing them to be recognized and integrated into the local emergency medical services system. By working in close partnership with MOH, the team upholds high standards of patient safety and care within the emergency medical services sector.
